Great advances in knowledge of the structure of the eye have taken place in the past 15 years with the advent of modern electron microscopic techniques. This atlas is presented as a complement to existing textbooks of ocular anatomy, and is designed to bring ophthalmologists "up to date" and familiarize them with the complex world of ocular ultrastructure.
In concept and format this volume is very reminiscent of Missoten's landmark review "L'Ultrastructure des Tissus Oculaires" (Bull Soc Belg Ophthal, No. 136, 1964). This new atlas contains 78 electron micrographs, most of satisfactory quality complemented by excellent three-dimensional schematic diagrams and line drawings. Numerous light micrographs are included for orientation purposes. The text is well-organized and clearly written.
We look forward to the publication of an English-language atlas of ocular ultrastructure.
