Homograft (rabbit to rabbit) and xenograft (rabbit to cat) corneal transplants were performed. When the donor animal was pretreated with antilymphocyte serum, the xenograft reaction was unaffected, but the onset of the homograft reaction was significantly delayed. A mechanism of action that could explain these results is discussed.
