The need for a more compact source of information on ophthalmic optics for the young student of ophthalmology has been evident to many of those involved in the teaching of this subject matter. Dr. Melvin L. Rubin, having recognized the need for such a book, has filled the need in the publication of Optics for Clinicians.
Dr. Rubin's qualifications make him an excellent author for such a book. Not only has he special training in ophthalmic optics, but his own studies and research have developed him into a master of this field. He is a fluent writer, speaker, and teacher as illustrated by his other publications. His work with continuing education, his daily experience as a teacher, and his experience as a practicing refractionist complete the qualifications which have led to the writing of this little book.
