Abstract

This is a report of the proceedings of a symposium on "The Lacrimal System," held in Mexico City in March 1970. The book is for the experienced reconstructive surgeon who has worked on the lacrimal system rather than for the neophyte. In Doctor Veirs's summary, he states "I am taking the liberty to comment on some of the controversial phases of the material presented" and certainly some is controversial.

Beard presents his usual well thought out reconstructive procedures for the treatment of tearing. Forrest and Jones from the Harkness Eye Institute offer a consolidated front in the treatment of lacrimal gland tumors. It is always pleasant to reread the words of Lester Jones and see Reinecke's article in the next chapter. One of the outstanding points of the book is the excellent presentation of the results that Pico reported in the treatment of lacerations of the canaliculus using a Viers'
