In recent years, there have been a number of books written specifically for the patient. Know Your Eyes provides the inquisitive patient, confronted by the staggering array of sophisticated ophthalmologic equipment, with a discussion of the various aspects of a routine examination. In addition, there is a clear presentation of the anatomy and function of the eye. Another section concentrates on common ocular diseases. Perhaps the most important section is "Myths and Misconceptions About the Eyes," which attempts to dispel some of the false beliefs patients seem to have about their eyes.
Know Your Eyes may be a worthwhile addition to the waiting room library that will be enjoyed by the occasional curious patient.
