This book is the latest among recent treatises emphasizing ophthalmology and systemic disease. Originally published in German as Haut und Auge (1969, Georg Thieme Verlag, Stuttgart, West Germany), it has been superbly translated and adapted to English by an expert team of American collaborators. The author, professor and director of the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Mainz, has produced a comprehensive classification of dermatologic diseases with ocular manifestations. There are 32 chapters and an excellent index. Professor Kurting has not attempted to provide a new dermatologic or ophthalmologic text, but merely presents the most important diagnostic features from each discipline in a manner that will make the book useful to most practicing clinical dermatologists and ophthalmologists. The clinical and histopathologic color photographs are absolutely superb; and the discussion of each disease entity is presented in succinct, show-and-tell fashion. References to non-English European articles offer an added dimension to
