The appointment of Frederick C. Blodi (Figure) to succeed Henry F. Allen as Chief Editor of the Archives of Ophthalmology assures that the Archives will continue the high standards of excellence established for it by a succession of distinguished editors.
Dr Blodi is Professor and Head of the Department of Ophthalmology of the University Hospital, University of Iowa. Under his guidance, the department has established an enviable record in postgraduate training, clinical care, and basic research.
Born in Austria, Dr Blodi received his primary education in Vienna and his MD degree from the University of Vienna Medical School. He remained at the University of Vienna for his postgraduate training, including a residency in ophthalmology for the year 1946 to 1947. In 1947, he came to the Institute of Ophthalmology in New York as a research fellow of the World Health Organization. In 1952, he was appointed Clinical Assistant Professor
