This marks the 75th anniversary of the publication of the Year Book. The editorship has usually been in Chicago, and since 1959 William F. Hughes has been in charge of the Year Book of Ophthalmology.
This has indeed become a most useful contribution to ophthalmic literature. The selection of the most important articles among thousands published each year is a considerable task. Dr Hughes has performed this duty over the years splendidly, and this anniversary edition crowns all previous publications. Dr Hughes has indeed succeeded in selecting the most worthwhile contributions.
The various chapters are introduced by a foreword written by an expert in the field. These forewords, in a precise and concise form, summarize recent advances in a subdivision of ophthalmology. All of them are good, but some of them are superb. Special attention should be drawn to the introduction of the chapter on "Glaucoma" by Robert Moses of
