This hardback is a collection of manuscripts published in the American Journal of Ophthalmology between the years 1965 and 1974 dealing with the diagnosis and management of amblyopia and with problems of ocular motility. The editor has reviewed 150 articles concerning these topics and has selected 47 articles that he feels were major contributions in these fields during this period of time. They have been republished with minor deletions and some editorial changes, but each article is printed essentially as it appeared originally.

Other topics are strabismus surgery (ten articles), A and V syndromes, inferior oblique muscle surgery, the diagnosis of strabismus problems, and strabismus related to other ophthalmological problems.
