Abstract

This is indeed an unusual tome. It presents a collection of articles all dealing with ocular oncology. It comprises nearly 900 pages and more than 800 illustrations. It covers nearly all aspects of ocular tumors in an encyclopedic fashion. Nothing like this has ever been offered to the ophthalmic community and it is unlikely that anything like it will come forward in any language in the near future.

The book is dedicated to Algernon B. Reese, the doyen of ocular pathology in this country. The editor is now in charge of the laboratory at the College of Physicians and Surgeons, New York, where Dr Reese worked for many decades. The book has 71 contributors and most of them are ophthalmic pathologists. Many of the authors are associated with the College of Physicians and Surgeons or with the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP) in Washington, DC.
