Abstract

This book contains the proceedings of the Third International Visual Field Symposium held for the International Perimetric Society. Papers were grouped into selected topics on neuro-ophthalmology, glaucoma, methodology, and some free-topic papers. Each section records the open discussions that followed each presentation.

The neuro-ophthalmologic section is confined to clinical studies of visual field defects associated with infrageniculate lesions. There are papers on field defects that can be correlated with observed fundus changes including nerve fiber layer dropout and lesions of the optic discs such as anterior ischemic optic neuropathy. There is a group of papers on visual field defects associated with tumors of the sellar region.

The second section is devoted to the visual field loss associated with glaucoma. The first topic deals with the earliest visual field changes detectable in glaucoma and various techniques used to identify early field defects. A series of papers covers the now classical method
