This series continues to report summary and review articles presenting the state of art in a specific topic.
The first contribution is by Prof J. Francois of Belgium and discusses ocular manifestations in demyelinating diseases. It is, as usual, a masterly summary of encyclopedic nature. The bibliography is as complete as you could hope for and should be of value to anybody who wants to continue research in that area.
The second contribution is in German and comes from the Universities of Bern and Basel in Switzerland. It deals with the mitotic activity of the pigment epithelial cells during embryonal and postembryonal development. The authors used rabbits, rats, and mice. The mitotic activity was examined by blocking the metaphase with colchicine and tagging the cells with tritiated thymidine. In general, none of the animals showed any mitotic activity in these cells after the first few days of postembryonic life. Therefore,
