Abstract

The sixth edition of this well-known textbook on ocular surgery has been extensively revised, enlarged, and rewritten by the well-known ophthalmologist from Birmingham, Ala.

The book is addressed to the general ophthalmic surgeon. It contains enough information to familiarize anyone with the the most accepted and proved procedures. The tendency for advanced specialization has, in general, eliminated the necessity for a single book on ophthalmic surgery by a single author. However, here we have an exception, and I think, as an introduction for general ophthalmic surgery or as a resource book for the ophthalmologist in the field, this is a most valuable and informative volume. We have to be grateful that there still exists an ophthalmologist who can cover the entire field. Roper-Hall is obviously most qualified to do that.
