This book represents a unique endeavor in ophthalmic therapeutics. Patterned after similar books in other specialties, it covers in an encyclopedic fashion almost all ophthalmologic and systemic diseases affecting the ocular system. After a short introductory statement on the nature of the disease, the therapeutic approaches and prophylactic measures are discussed. This is followed by a short and concise bibliography.
About 300 authors have contributed to this volume, and they come not only from the United States and Canada, but also from Europe, Latin America, and Asia. A number of them are not ophthalmologists, but are internists, dermatologists, surgeons, immunologists, physiologists, etc.
Within the text only generic names are used, but there is a list of drugs attached that gives also the numerous proprietary and trade names. For all medications, the preparations available and usual dosages are indicated.
This is a superb reference book and should be of tremendous help
