This is the third edition of the venerable textbook that has been popular for decades. We are all indebted to Professor Michaelson for this encyclopedic work, which covers not only diseases of the retina, but also those of the choroid and the optic nerve.
The new edition has been complemented by a number of chapters written and enlarged by Dr David Benezra of Jerusalem.
A number of modernizations have been done, and they all greatly enhance the value of this book. Numerous fluorescein angiograms, new fundus pictures, etc, have been added to bring the book up to date. Similarly, the references have, in general, been brought up to the last decade.
Many of the color fundus pictures are still drawings, and most of them come from the Scottish illustrator, Mr Gabriel Donald. There is no question that in a modern book on fundus diseases, most of these pictures should probably
