Once again, Dr Hughes has been able to compile an excellent summary of the current literature. He has a knack of selecting the most important contributions and not only abstracting them, but supplementing them with wise and meaningful commentaries.
In addition, all the chapters are introduced by a short summary written by an expert in the field. Some of these introductory contributions are small scientific articles by themselves that are not only useful to read but also contain superb bibliographies. This is especially true for the chapter by Donald Doughman on the treatment of corneal thinning and perforation, the chapter on differential diagnosis of superior limbic keratoconjunctivitis and papillary keratoconjunctivitis associated with contact lenses by Fred Wilson II, the chapter on Duane's syndrome by Marshall Parks, and the chapter on adverse effects of drugs in the elderly by Irving Leopold.
