—I greatly enjoyed the article by Hodes et al entitled "Hyphema Complicating Laser Iridotomy," that was published in the June Archives (1982;100:924-925).In their article, Hodes et al attribute the first laser iridotomy to Dr Gerd Meyer-Schwickerath in 1956. Dr Meyer-Schwickerath is indeed the father of modern photocoagulation. The laser, however, was not invented until 1960.1The first experimental use of the
