This book presents one volume in the series of international histologic classification of tumors and is the outcome of work carried out by the World Health Organization Center at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology in Washington, DC. This group, under the chairmanship of Dr Lorenz Zimmerman, consisted of pathologists and ophthalmologists from 13 countries. More than 500 cases were reviewed and typed.
The book now presents a logical classification followed by concise definitions and some explanatory notes. Most valuable are the 150 color photomicrographs that should be of great help in identifying specific tumors of the eye and the adnexa.
The book covers not only neoplasms, but also certain nonneoplastic-related lesions and the phakomatoses.
This book should be of help to anybody who only occasionally sees neoplasms of the eye and its adnexa. The standardized nomenclature should go a long way in facilitating communications among scientists working in this
