For more than eight years, Professor Frederick C. Blodi of the University of Iowa has guided the destiny of the Archives with a firm hand and a kind heart. With characteristic verve and enormous vitality, he moves to another exciting career as director of academic affairs at King Khalid University's Institute of Ophthalmology in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Fred's thousands of admirers, his friends, and his Editorial Board wish him many years of happiness and success in all of his future activities.
Editorial policies for the Archives under Fred's direction have been wise and effective, leading to an increasing number of manuscript submissions and publications, including many from Western Europe and Japan. The world's finest authors have naturally been desirous to see their best work disseminated by one of our most prestigious and widely read ophthalmic periodicals (current circulation, more than 18,000).
