Robert B. Nussenblatt, MD, Named NEI Clinical Director.  —Robert B. Nussenblatt, MD, has been named clinical director of the National Eye Institute (NEI). He will be responsible for developing and implementing the NEI's clinical research program to meet national and international health needs. He served as NEI deputy clinical director for three years. Dr Nussenblatt also is chief of the NEI's Laboratory of Immunology.

Society Officers Announced.  —At the General Membership Meeting held on April 30, 1987, the St Louis Ophthalmological Society elected a new slate of officers for 1987-1988: president, Jerome V. Basinski, MD; vice president, Laurence R. Avins, MD; and secretary-treasurer, Stephen R. Waltman, MD.

The Wilmer Institute Announces Endowed Chair.  —The Wilmer Institute, Baltimore, announced that Mohammed Aziz, MD, donated $50 000 for an endowed annual lectureship on "Blindness of the Tropics" to be administered by The International Center for Epidemiologic and Preventive Ophthalmology.
