Abstract

In Reply.  —I am most impressed with Hamed and colleagues' report in which they convincingly establish that a patient with MEWDS can manifest major steep-edged blind spot enlargement. I always pay attention when Dr. Gass tells us he has seen a similar case. Drs Aaberg and Calhoun1 already expressed their opinion1 that the syndrome of AIBSE might be part of the spectrum of MEWDS (although their patients did not demonstrate this finding). Is it possible that the spectrum of the disease called MEWDS could include steep geographic-edged blind spot enlargement and temporal photopsias without a stage of multiple evanescent white dots or macular involvement?
