Gunter Kreiglstein edited a collection of reports presented at the third committee meeting of the Glaucoma Society of the International Congress of Ophthalmology held in Bussum, the
Netherlands, from September 11 to 14, 1986. Over 80 distinguished researchers in the field of glaucoma produced 37 reports covering a wide variety of subjects that were discussed at this normally "closed" meeting.
The contents of this volume have been loosely grouped into broad, related topics. Both basic sciences and clinical research are well represented. Broad areas of investigation include trabecular meshwork morphology, optic nerve morphology and physiology, epidemiological investigations of infantile and primary open angle glaucoma, automated visual field studies, both experimental and clinical laser studies, antimetabolites in filtering surgery, and new approaches in pharmacological management of glaucoma. In general, these reports are well written and concise. Illustrations, tables, and micrographs are sufficiently employed throughout. Bibliographies are a valuable addition to each
