This volume, published in 1988 by the French Society of Ophthalmology, attempts to provide the reader with information about basic and clinical immunology that is relevant to ophthalmic diseases. Both the ophthalmologist and the immunologist will find this book of interest since much effort has been made to make it understandable to both; included is a good glossary of ophthalmological and immunological terms. Some of the authors are well known for their important work on the pathogenesis of retinal autoimmunity and experimental uveitis, as well as the classification and management of uveitis.
"... this book should stand out as a landmark"
Despite the book's multiauthorship, the chapters are unified and coherent. Most chapters are well referenced. One weakness of this book is the fact that some areas of the field are insufficiently covered, eg, lymphomas. Yet, that is probably due to the format of the French Society of Ophthalmology annual
