Eliot L. Berson, MD, and Thaddeus P. Dryja, MD, Honored.
—Eliot L. Berson, MD, and Thaddeus P. Dryja, MD, of the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary in Boston, have been selected by the International Society for Genetic Eye Diseases to receive the Franceschetti Award. The award recognizes their discovery of a gene abnormality in human retinitis pigmentosa. The research by Drs Berson and Dryja was sponsored primarily by grants from the National Eye Institute, the Retinitis Pigmentosa Foundation Fighting Blindness, Baltimore, Md, and the George Gund Foundation, Cleveland, Ohio.
