George O. Waring III, MD, Awarded Senior International Fellowship.  —George O. Waring III, MD, Professor of Ophthalmology and Director of Refractive Surgery at Emory University, Atlanta, Ga, was recently awarded a Senior International Fellowship from the Fogarty International Center of the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Md, to conduct a series of collaborative research projects at Hotel-Dieu Hospital in Paris, France. Working with Yves Pouliquen, MD, Director of Ophthalmology at Hotel-Dieu Hospital, and Khalil Hanna, MD (who holds a joint appointment as associate professor of ophthalmology, part-time, at Emory), Dr Waring carried out research on computer models to predict the outcome of refractive surgery in human eyes.
