Tarsotomy for the Treatment of Cicatricial Entropion

Arch Ophthalmol. 1992;110(12):1685. doi:10.1001/archopht.1992.01080240023012

To the Editor.  —Kersten et al1 describe a simple and effective technique for correcting cicatricial entropion in the May 1992 issue of the Archives.Using this technique, I have found it helpful to place a very large chalazion clamp across the lid prior to the tarsotomy (Figure). The clamp stabilizes the lid tissues and prevents troublesome bleeding during the procedure. With the clamp in place, the tarsotomy can be performed and the sutures placed and tied, all with great precision.
