In the August 1995 issue of the Archives, an advertisement for an ophthalmic solution was inadvertently printed adjacent to a clinical science article comparing its use with other ophthalmic solutions. The American Medical Association guidelines specify that advertisements are not to be placed next to an article that favorably or unfavorably discusses the advertiser or the product. The Archives regrets the error and has taken additional steps to ensure that such a conflict does not recur.
