Sudden Visual Loss Associated With Sexual Activity

Arch Ophthalmol. 1996;114(1):106. doi:10.1001/archopht.1996.01100130102027

I found the article "Sudden Visual Loss Associated With Sexual Activity" by Friberg et al1 interesting, as did, apparently, much of the lay press.

In September 1974, the Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology published my article "Ophthalmodynia Hypertonica Copulationis—A New Syndrome?" (1974;9: 484-485) in which acute angle-closure glaucoma attacks seemed to be precipitated by prolonged sexual intercourse, in a prone position, in a darkened room.

First eggs and cheese, then red meat, then white wine, and now sex—are there any safe pleasures left?
