Arch Ophthalmol. 2012;130(8):1048-1050. doi:10.1001/archophthalmol.2012.1472

Witkin and coauthors successfully used a new surgical technique in 4 patients who developed choroidal detachments during 23-gauge vitrectomy after the infusion cannula was accidentally partially disinserted. After reestablishing infusion into the vitreous cavity, the partially disinserted cannula was left in position and was used to immediately drain the intraoperative choroidal detachment.

Regulation of Leukotriene B4 Secretion by Human Corneal, Conjunctival, and Meibomian Gland Epithelial Cells

Abstract Full Text

Arch Ophthalmol. 2012;130(8):1013-1018. doi:10.1001/archophthalmol.2012.1067

To determine whether leukotriene B4 (LTB4) production has a role in the generation of inflammation in ocular surface disease, Sahin and colleagues tested the hypotheses that arachidonic acid duplicates the stimulatory effect of lipopolysaccharide (LPS), LPS-binding protein potentiates LPS-induced LTB4 secretion, and dihydrotestosterone attenuates the immune effect of LPS.
