Amit et al conducted a retrospective medical chart review of 2542 patients with papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) to assess the association of lymph node density (LND) with 10-year disease-specific and overall survival. The authors found that patients with an LND greater than 0.19 had significantly decreased overall and disease-specific survival. They conclude that LND could be used to identify the subgroup of patients who would most benefit from more aggressive adjuvant therapy.
