Objective: To obtain an accurate estimate of the incidence of oral cancer worldwide by assessing rates in 175 countries.
Methods: Age-adjusted incidence rates for oral cancer were obtained for 175 countries from the International Agency for Research on Cancer GLOBOCAN database. Data for 2002 are presented for oral cancer (International Statistical Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision, codes C00 to 13, except C11) using the national cancer registries from available countries with analysis of the demographic data, rates per country, and total new cases combining available data.
