Objective: To quantify the incidence of suicide in US cancer patients. Hypotheses: (1) cancer patients have a higher suicide rate than the US general population and (2) head and neck cancer (HNC) patients have a higher suicide rate compared with patients with other types of cancer.
Design: Retrospective cohort study.
