The American Head and Neck Society (AHNS) leadership would like to acknowledge the recent publication of the Consensus Statement on Central Neck Dissection Terminology and Classification for Thyroid Cancer published in the journal Thyroid. The manuscript is accessible for download in its entirety at the American Thyroid Association (ATA) Web site under PROFESSIONAL GUIDELINES (http://www.thyroid.org/professionals/index.html). It reflects a multidisciplinary collaboration with participation and endorsement from the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, American Association of Endocrine Surgeons, and AHNS under the auspices of the ATA Surgery Working Group. The guidelines represent the culmination of dedicated work by thyroid surgeon specialists and endocrinologists together seeking to improve outcomes for patients with thyroid cancer.
