The author, who has been a voluminous contributor to the literature of the questions relating to these structures, has endeavored to present problems of the tonsil and adenoid in a comprehensive manner. An outstanding feature is his culling from the literature of views expressed by other writers, to which he adds his own critical evaluation. There is no phase of this subject that he has not carefully considered, and the work constitutes a valuable reference book for both the general physician and the specialist in diseases of the throat. An excellent and complete bibliography accompanies each chapter, in which the author shows his familiarity with the literature from this country; this is in striking contrast to writers on the continent.
