INTRODUCTION
With the growing belief that the operative procedure most likely to lead to a cure for laryngeal cancer is total laryngectomy, there are in America and abroad a constantly increasing number of persons who have undergone the removal of their essential organ of voice and speech production. Those thus deprived of the voice are definitely handicapped in their social intercourse, and often find great difficulty in obtaining a means of livelihood.
