Reports of ossification of the auricular cartilage are infrequent.1 I report herein four additional cases.
All the patients were elderly men. The general physical examinations revealed nothing except myocarditis in case 2. The patient in case 4 had had syphilis previously, and at the time of examination he had retinitis proliferans of tuberculous origin. The histories of all were negative for frost-bite or other trauma to the ears. There was nothing int he appearance of the affected ears to indicate the presence of bone, which was discovered only by palpation and roentgen examination.
