In arranging this symposium the president, Dr. Lillie, expressed a desire to have presented at this meeting a thorough review which would cover as completely as possible the results obtained by operations on the various sinuses. The subject of "External Operations on the Frontal, Ethmoid and Sphenoid Sinuses" was assigned to me.
The task of checking up on the cases has been much greater than anticipated, and I am afraid that I have not been able to examine the records in anything like all the cases available, even in my own practice. I find that from 1921 to 1939 I have operated for sinal disease in approximately 600 cases in the Barnes Hospital alone.
