Abstract

The biographic data of the first two editions of the "Directory of Medical Specialists" included only positions (internships, residencies or assistantships) held during the course of training of men up to the time of their certification by the American Boards, and positions on hospital and medical school staffs then currently held.

It is desired to extend these data in the third edition to include all formal appointments to hospitals and medical schools, with dates for which they were held, even though the appointee has now resigned, as well as records of all military service, including commissions and dates, whether in World War I, in the reserve forces in peacetime or in the present war.

Thus, a chronologically complete sketch of the entire career of a certified specialist is to be included in this third edition of the "Directory."
