INTRODUCTION OF AN ARTISTIC POINT OF VIEW IN REGARD TO RHINOPLASTIC DIAGNOSIS

Arch Otolaryngol. 1945;42(1):33-41. doi:10.1001/archotol.1945.00680040047006
Abstract

To those who scoff at any attempt to confine perfect symmetry within mathematical boundaries let me quote from Brenda Putnam's1 excellent volume "The Sculptor's Way." She says, "To those who instinctively feel that the perfect proportions of the body must be founded on some rational laws of mathematics (as in music), I strongly advise the study of the artist Wilford S. Conrow and his collaborator Dr. William Churchill. Between them they have evolved a convincingly logical method of determining the ratio of perfect proportion." She goes on to say that such investigations are by no means new. Plato and Euclid delved deep into the study, and Leonardo DaVinci was profoundly convinced that only through mathematics could the laws of symmetry be found. Pamphlets giving a basis for the findings, including photographs, diagrams and mathematical and geometric formulas, together with biometric patterns, can be obtained from Mr. Conrow, Carnegie Hall, New
