Abstract

This book reveals the inspiring story of American doctors in action in World War II. The text is well printed and well indexed.

The literary ability and grammatical purity of the editor require no further comment—they are well known to all of us. His arrangement of subjects and his choice of contributors make this book one of the most valuable documents of this greatest of all wars.

It is true that other books will be published from time to time setting forth further details and researches, for that always must take place; but this one covers the wide field so completely and comprehensively that it will remain a valuable document.

In addition to Dr. Fishbein, the following distinguished physicians contributed to the documentation: George B. Darling, M.D., vice chairman of the Division of Medical Sciences, National Research Council; Harold S. Diehl, M.D., member of the Directing Board of the Procurement
