Stevenson's book is an excellent review of the recent advances in otolaryngology. It is concise, well written and unbiased. The writer appears to be well aware of the good work being done here and abroad. The chapter on audiology is exceptionally well done and includes information that every otologist should have.
Lempert and Shambaugh are given commendable mention for their fenestration work, and Proetz and Hilding share the spotlight for their important work on the physiology of the nose.
The antibiotics, including the sulfonamides, penicillin and streptomycin are handled succinctly and in proper proportion to the specialty as a whole. In general, this volume, although not a textbook, presents in a scientific, conservative manner the latest and most authentic papers in otolaryngology.
