Abstract

This is a timely book dealing with the many problems of thoracic pathology and present-day treatment. Tuberculosis is given a great deal of consideration, with complete chapters on pathology and general treatment from the surgical standpoint. Therapeutic pneumothorax, oleothorax, pneumoperitoneum, phrenic nerve paralysis, pneumonolysis, thoracoplasty and resection are treated in great detail. Many other pulmonary conditions are likewise presented in great detail. The chapters devoted to the lesions of the heart and the mediastinum, esophagus, and diaphragm are comprehensive and present a clear-cut discussion of all the newer therapeutic, both medical and surgical, measures that are in vogue. Each pathologic condition is clearly described and supplemented with gross microscopic and radiologic illustrations. The surgical procedures are clearly and amply described.
