This 10th edition is very timely, since many changes have occurred in the field of otolaryngology in the 10 years that have elapsed since the appearance of the 9th edition.
The text has been rewritten or revised to include the newer developments. Particular stress is placed on the physiology of the nose, the Eustachian tube, and hearing. Emphasis is placed on inflammatory diseases of the labyrinth, its treatment, both medical and surgical, physiology and functional tests of the vestibular apparatus, Ménières syndrome, etc. The problems of allergy should have been more fully discussed.
Each subdivision of otolaryngology is carefully presented, with special emphasis on anatomy and physiology, the various diseases, their diagnosis and treatment, both medical and surgical. The surgical techniques are meticulously described and are supplemented with excellent illustrations depiciting the various stages of each surgical procedure.
