Abstract

This is a "West Coast book," since the author is well connected with some of the best-known hospitals in California, and is a teacher in Stanford and the University of California. Throughout, it is clinical, and therefore practical, clarifying diagnostic problems, and stating reasons for choice of management.... Recurrent cancer always makes problems: what to do, when, and how. Is it best to do surgery or irradiation? Use of isotopes and chemotherapy calls for "agonized reappraisal" of each case problem. The author aims to help in making such decisions, and gives a feeling of stand-by to the anxious and not greatly experienced operator. Here is an inexpensive vade mecum which should have a wide field of usefulness.
