A NEW feature entitled "Historical Vignettes" begins in this issue of the Archives of Otolaryngology. These vignettes will concern individuals who have made otolaryngologic history, and each one will be written by a prominent member of our specialty, selected because of his intimate knowledge of the subject. We hope that our readers will find them instructive and enjoyable reading.
The first vignette is of Sir William Wilde, a most colorful and unconventional individual.
