Abstract

This textbook of otolaryngology is outstanding in content and precise in design, continuing a German tradition in this field. Besides the familiar subjects, this book contains the developments of the last decade as well as the pediatric, geriatric, and stomatologic aspects of our specialty.

The author trained under Wittmaack and Denker, and on the eve of a 30-year career as a clinician and a teacher, has succeeded in writing a classical textbook meant for the medical student and practicing physician. In all three major chapters, the clinical part is preceded by a well-illustrated discussion of the anatomy and physiology. The examination techniques and office procedures are thoroughly outlined.

The superb quality of the many explicit color and black and white photos and photomicrographs in the clinical sections makes ownership of this volume worthwhile even for the physician who is not proficient in the German language.

The volume encompasses every field
