Notwithstanding the drawbacks of synopses, they offer a broad, well-organized scan, rather than a voluminous detailed reference, therefore filling a decided need in medical literature. It is obvious, therefore, that otorhinolaryngologic pathology as covered in this text is of little value to the practitioner of this specialty. On the other hand, surgical pathology outside the specialty is less frequently encountered and may require periodic review which a synopsis of this sort will give clearly, quickly, and concisely.
Kark's A Synopsis of Surgical Pathology is an excellent one, well recommended to both the resident and the specialist requiring such a text.
