TO MINIMIZE trauma resulting from multiple attempts at wire crimping, a modified instrument (V. Mueller and Co.) was designed which converts the crimping phase into a one-squeeze operation (Figure). The instrument, basically, has wider blades with internal grooves which are wider and angled in such a manner that they tend to pick up the wire and maintain it in position. This instrument seems to minimize the tendency for the wire to turn sideways in the closing jaws of the usual crimper.
