The American Medical Association's Board of Trustees is aware of the growing problem of malpractice suits and hopefully can point the way toward workable solutions, to be implemented through the state medical societies. A joint medical and legal committee to screen such cases, to recommend out-of-court settlements, when justified, and then to fight to the limit unjustified claims if they are not withdrawn, may be the answer.—Ed.
