Ross N. Clark, MD, San FranciscoA 48-year-old man complained of bilateral nasal obstruction for about four years. He also felt a mass moving back and forth in his left nostril. Examination showed the nasal mucosa to be pale and boggy and there was a moderate sized, pale, glistening polyp obstructing the posterior third of the left nasal cavity. Sinus x-ray readings were negative. The polyp was removed under local anesthesia without incident (Fig 1 to 3).

During the past six weeks he noticed a few episodes of rust-colored drainage. Due to recurrent episodes of otalgia an adenotonsillectomy was performed when he was 5 years old. At the age of 13
